Update 2.0 Out!


Introduction

Hello,

It is our pleasure to announce that version 2.0 of Archmage is officially out for all platforms. For the game’s first major update, we’ve roughly doubled the playtime, and added a lot of sweet new spells and effects to try out (including several ways to “go infinite”). The full patch notes are below, and include just about all the information we could think of about the update (except spell effects, because those are in-game and would take far too much room), so for questions about anything please consult them, and if they don’t answer your question feel free to email us at bmgamingdevelopment@gmail.com. This is the second of 3 expected versions to be released before we move on to the game’s kickstarter, so if you’re loving it and would love to see more, please leave a comment or tell a friend! And if you find something we should work on, please let us know about that as well so we can get it fixed.

Introducing Relics

Relics are a powerful new tool to refine your deck’s synergies even farther. Each grants a permanent passive ability while it is equipped, offering extremely powerful, niche effects. One relic can be equipped for its full effect, and one for a lesser effect. Defeating bosses on floor 20 will drop random uncollected relics from their pool. The first time you kill a floor 20 boss you will also receive a damage amplification relic for each elemental damage type.

New Relics

  • Flare Beads - amplify fire damage
  • Snowflake Core - amplify ice damage
  • Tesla’s Coil - amplify lightning damage
  • Purest Diamond - amplify ground damage
  • Other Fragment - amplify void damage
  • Drop of Sunlight - amplify holy damage
  • Christian’s Weighted Dice - increase the likelihood of positive outcomes
  • Golem’s Furnace - discarding casts random spells
  • Will’s Luxury Ball - summons a permanent shield and lengthens the duration of summons
  • Galadrial’s Golden Ichor - Casting spells heals and overheals the player
  • Happ E.’s Inverse Mirror - Orders your deck by rarity. When full, also replaces each card with a spell of a higher rarity

New Boss: Doldrum, the Traveller

On beginning combat, Doldrum, in the spirit of his set, will immediately planeshift the player into The Other, rendering spells that are blocked by walls much more limited. Once there, he flies around leaving trails of fire, summoning worms, etc. Once weakened, his powers to lock the player in his dimension begin weakening…

  • Added temporary background music and some sound effects
  • Window is resizable, including fullscreen

Map Creation

  • Exits are now spread out more evenly throughout the map; also generally do not spawn as close to the player
  • The safety box around the player is implemented correctly to allow spells to pass but not let enemies target the player
  • Certain bosses will create a second exit adjacent to the player on death

Misc.

Expanded save file size to allow up to 700 unique spells (NOTE: This will render previous save versions incompatible. As thanks for bearing with this reset, 2000 gold will be granted upon finishing the tutorial for this version.)

NOTE: from a small amount of playtesting, the windows version of this update may experience odd behavior resulting from the windowing software. Please be advised that this bug is known, but we will have difficulty addressing it unless and until we are able to acquire the funds necessary to purchase a Windows device to write on.
